Moving from Blackboard, Moodle or a homegrown system means course content, enrolment data, historic grades and integrations, all of which have to arrive intact. We plan the migration against the academic calendar, because a cutover in week three of term is not a cutover, it is an incident.
Faculty adoption decides whether it succeeds
The platform is not the risk. Academics with their own established way of teaching are. We run training by department rather than one institution-wide session, because a science faculty and a law school do not use an LMS the same way.
Integration with the systems you already run
Canvas is built to LTI 1.3, so your student information system, your library resources, your proctoring and your lecture capture connect rather than being replaced. Instructure certifies integrations against those standards.
